Sandra woke up about 8:30 am, as does everyone, but she's feeling worse with the allergies. We sit on the porch drinking coffee and listening to the water in the nearby streams. It's beautiful in the daylight and there's a hammock down at the stream. It's decided that Sandra will go to a clinic, while everyone else goes to the laundromat. Sandra has medication and the laundry is done, so we head to Deal's Gap about 1:30 pm. We grabbed lunch at the Deal's Gap gas station. 318 turns in 11 miles gave it the name Tail of the Dragon. It was fabulous but all those crotch rockets were dangerously passing us on "no pass" curves. Turns out to be a racetrack for the super bikes. They trailer the bikes in and all the riders wear full leathers, even in this heat. There is a monument erected in the side of the mountain. It is a motorcycle tire that looks like it ran into the side of the mountain. On either side of the tire is a foot with blue jeans, above it is a tombstone RIP. Very clever! No time for Cherokee Reservation. It's about 7:00 pm when we get back to the cabin – tired and butt sore. Lance is the only one hungry tonight and cooks himself eggs. More relaxing and drinks on the cabin porch. One thing to mention….we now understand what is meant by the "Bible Belt." Every town has 3 huge crosses erected. We've seen 2 huge signs in the fields with religious quotes. Day is beautiful! Dawn is doing great since her knee operation but she needs to continue doing her therapy.
