We're up at 5:00 am to return the rental car and catch our 8:00 am flight to St. Louis. Bob and Dawn pick us up when we
land at 2:30 pm. They took us back to their home, where we got on our Harleys and headed out for our first anniversary ride and their honeymoon! It is sunny and humid, mid to upper 80s. We
headed east on 270 from St. Louis. We crossed the Mississippi River and went into Illinois, Indiana and Kentucky. We stopped for the night at the Red Carpet Inn in Louisville, Kentucky. It is
starting to cloud up. We had dinner at Waffle House, the only place open at 11:00 pm. We got to bed around midnight after making plans with Terry McKnight to meet for breakfast at 7:00 am at Cracker
Barrel.
We're up at 6:00 am to meet Terry for breakfast. There's rain, thunder, more rain. We waited for it to let up, then started out. We ran into more rain, but finally it turned
sunny and warm!! We had lunch at Arby's in Ashland, Kentucky. We headed to Midland Trail, which was nice riding but dismal surroundings in the beginning. Shacks and industrial. We stopped
at the Harley-Davidson dealership in South Charleston, West Virginia, where Lance ordered the padded seat for the bike. It's being shipped to Mountain Brook in Sylva, NC for Wednesday delivery. We had
rain gear on and it's in the mid 70s now. We saw two waterfalls and saw the New River Gorge, which has a huge expansion bridge. It was drizzly and low clouds in the trees – hence Smoky
Mountains. It was 6:00 pm when we left the Gorge and headed on to Lewisburg, West Virginia. Dinner was great at Food and Friends. Dawn was in the mood to drink her dinner. She didn't have
much time to celebrate at her wedding reception and wanted to celebrate tonight! We spent the night at Fort Savannah motel.
