Today we started very very early (5:30am) for the journey across Death Valley and into Mammoth Lakes. This was truly awesome, and due to US (Lance and Sandra, Bob and Dawn and mid-day being joined by Bill) leaving early, the temperature was quite low and sometimes down right cold. You could feel, sense and see things that no one can in a cage (automobile). It was incredible to notice the temperature changes and spots of cold then warm, like thermoclines when diving.  We stayed at Austria Hof.  It started raining after we left Devil's Post Pile.  On the way to Grumpy's for the no-host party, we were hailed on for a few minutes.
That stuff stings!

Up at 5:30 packed and ready to go!
